Phil Marter BA PgDip PhD AIFA
Phil is ARCA's Project Manager for geophysical surveys and standing-building recording. Phil graduated with a BA in Archaeology from King Alfred's College in 1995, completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Field Archaeology at the University of Oxford in 1996 and was awarded a PhD from the University of Southampton in 2005 for a thesis entitled 'The Medieval Pottery Industry in England AD 850 - 1600'.

Phil Marter Experience
Phil has worked for Clywd Powys Archaeological Trust, Context One Archaeological Services and English Heritage. He teaches field techniques, artefact analysis and illustration on University of Winchester undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes. He also directs the University's current training excavation at the medieval hospital of St Mary Magdalen, near Winchester, together with Dr Simon Roffey.

Research Interests
Phil's research interests include archaeological practice, medieval archaeology, the archaeology of WWI and WWII and archaeological futures. Phil continues to contribute to research projects involving the medieval archaeology of England, Spain, Georgia and Ethiopia.
