Myra Wilkinson-van Hoek Drs MA PIFA
Myra Wilkinson-van Hoek obtained a 'Drs' degree
(the equivalent of a British MA) in English and Translating
at the University of Utrecht in the Netherlands in 1993. She
subsequently worked as an academic translator and copy editor
and as a subtitler for Dutch television. Having moved to the
UK in 2002, she embarked on an MA in Archaeology at the University
of Reading, for which she was awarded a Distinction in 2003.
Archaeological
Experience
Myra has been working in archaeology
since 2000; she has participated in regional archaeological
survey and assisted with geoarchaeological research in Greece,
Spain and France (including Corsica) with the Universities
of Winchester and Leiden; has worked at the University of
Winchester's training excavations, and at the international
excavation of the site of Bibracte in France with the Institute
of Field Archaeologists (now the Institute for Archaeologists).
Fine Line Archaeological Language Services
In 2005, combining her language background
with her archaeological expertise, she launched Fine
Line Archaeological Language Services, offering copy-editing,
proofreading, indexing and translation services (Dutch, French,
German and Spanish) to the archaeological world, both in the
UK and in The Netherlands and Flanders, a member of the Dutch
Union of Archaeological Entrepreneurs (VOiA). Myra has been
working for ARCA since its inception, both as field and laboratory
assistant, and copy-edits ARCA reports.
